Stockton Security Services

Healthcare and Education Case Study

Applications used

Saved expenditure from lowering costs associated with transporting biological assets has been redirected into frontline services.

Control room operators are continually aware of the exact whereabouts of critical medical assets and who’s transporting them.

It now takes less time to transport medical assets due to increased procedural cohesion, to the benefit of staff and patients.

A greater geographical area is being served without compromising the quality of service delivery.

What was the brief for Stockton Security Services?

When a medical patient’s life is on the line, healthcare staff need to know the whereabouts of life-saving resources. Be it surgical equipment within an operating theatre or an organ in transit between hospitals, precise information on the location of medical assets is indispensable.

When Veracity worked with Stockton Security Services, transporter of biological assets in the north east of England, the objective was to make the location of ‘blood couriers’ in transit just as accessible as the whereabouts of medical equipment in an operating theatre.

How was the solution reached?

Greater operational capacity.

Stockton Security Services wanted to expand the geographical area which it operated in: from Cleveland to Northumbria and Cumbria. To enable this, Veracity increased the technological capacity of Stockton Security Service’s control room.

The location of a blood courier is now made known by GPS and communication devices enable two-way correspondence if it is needed. Stockton Security’s Graeme Small Assistant Security Services Manager offers his take on the benefits of upscaling: “Veracity’s dynamic iMAP technology enables us to track all our riders, wherever they are.

Each rider is monied using Lone Worker and Key Tracking, enabling GPS tracking, two-way speech and panic alarm monitoring. Each rider’s position is displayed live in our control room on icomply’s open software integration platform. Cross border handovers and cooperation are coordinated and logistically synchronised”.

Increased precision and personnel safety.

Telephone correspondence was once the predominant medium of communication between blood couriers and control rooms, but under the new system couriers are not required to continually update control room operators to indicate their whereabouts: GPS signals, transmitted from a Telonika lone worker device, transmit geographical information automatically and continually.

Not only has this streamlined communication, but the safety of blood couriers has been increased by lessening the manual workload of blood couriers.

A tailored solution.

The opportunity to provide UK wide monitoring of such a critical service was an interesting and challenging project for Veracity. By utilising some of the existing systems we have developed on similar asset and personnel monitoring projects, Veracity were able to provide a cost effective monitoring system to this life saving service.
